Solid-state photo-CIDNP NMR applying flavin systems

Goal

Until now, hyperpolarization due to the solid-state photo-CIDNP effect
has been achieved solely by electron-transfer proteins.
Here we will develop synthetic diads showing the same phenomenon.

Challenge

Synthesis, spectroscopical analysis and theory will go hand in hand to
allow for rationally designed molecules with predicted properties.

Impact

Sensitivity of NMR can be dramatic improved, simply by illumination
with light, and allow for new categories of NMR experiments in solid
and soft matter.
