Molecular thermally activated delayed fluorescence emitters and their spin-dynamics

Carsten Deibel (Chemnitz University of Technology) / Christian Wiebeler (University of Augsburg) / Kirsten Zeitler (Leipzig University)

Goal

Modeling and understanding spin-conversion processes in donor-acceptor cyanoarenes and tailoring them for applications as emitters in modern organic light-emitting diodes.

Challenge

Research on a set of donor-acceptor cyanoarenes combining synthesis, experimental characterization and theoretical modeling to elucidate the mechanisms of spin conversion and light emission from different excited states in magnetic fields.

Impact

Concepts for the description of spin-conversion processes in molecular systems as well as design rules to tailor molecules for specific applications on demand, e.g. as emitters in organic light-emitting diodes or as source of hyperpolarization.
