Workshop: Intercultural Communication and Teamwork in Multicultural Research Environments

In today’s diverse academic landscape, successful collaboration in multicultural research teams requires strong intercultural communication skills. This interactive one-day workshop offers practical tools to navigate cultural differences, improve communication and build mutual understanding in diverse academic settings. Participants will explore key concepts of intercultural competence, reflect on their own communication styles and learn how to foster respectful and effective teamwork across cultures. Real-life case studies, group exercises and guided discussions will help transfer insights into daily academic and professional practice.
Coach: Claudia Grothoff
Studied Southeast Asian Studies, Sociology and Indonesian Language at the University of Bonn and at the Universitas Surabaya, Indonesia. Claudia Grothoff is a certified intercultural trainer (dgikt). She works as an intercultural learning consultant at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and as a trainer for intercultural competences and communication at german universities.
